It will be up to you!

It will be up to you!

I have been working on this tag project for several months now. It was quite an incredible adventure, full of discoveries, surprises and unforeseen events.

Today, the project is nearing completion.

The second version of the prototypes is on the way. Electronic boards are being manufactured right now.

To solder the components, finished handmade diy : I'm going to make the little Chinese people from Silicone-Vallée Grenoble work, at the foot of Saint-Hilaire-du-Touvet. A 100% free flight product!

I had an appointment this afternoon to plan the assembly. And surprise: I will have the right to come with my little camera, to make you a short film showing the process.

All I have to do is integrate the cards into the boxes, and fix the antenna and the solar panel.

That brings us to the post office for the end of the week of June 2.

I thought I could deliver to you this week, but:

– I hung out too much in Paris at the beginning of last week, so I couldn't finalize the drawing in time

– I missed the card manufacturing times (8 working days ≠ 8 days)

– and I had forgotten the Ascension

Grrr

Despite all these adventures, we are reaching the goal.

Once these first prototypes have been sent, I will have fulfilled my part of the contract.

It will be up to you!

I think these low cost beacons are a real step forward for our business. But to make the project a reality, I now need to scale up to an industrial scale.

So I'm going to launch a "crowdfunding" campaign. From mid-June to end of July, you will have the possibility to order a beacon or make a donation to help the project. It's sort of a test of the market. The objective will be to collect €29 = i.e. 850 beacons at €150, enough to cover the manufacture of the beacons, the creation of the company, compliance with CE standards, etc...

If this objective is not achieved, I will not have the means to make the project live.. Everyone will be reimbursed and the adventure will end there. It would be a shame, but it's the sad reality of this world.

The rest is in your hands!

Now is the time to talk about it around you. If your club is considering purchasing a beacon, start discussing it. The holidays will come quickly, and at the end of July it will be too late. The more you will be, the more chance we will have of carrying out this project.

You can sleep and already broadcast the site address http://pioupiou.fr, on which you will soon find all the details of this tag. By entering your email, you will be the first to be informed of the launch.

For the launch of the campaign, events will be organized. You can already note:

– June 12 at Co-Work in Grenoble

– June 15 in Paris, as part of Futur en Seine

I'll give you more details as soon as I have them.

This article tells you about the birth of Piou Piou, the first 100% autonomous and affordable sensor to measure the wind live, even where there is no electricity or internet.

  1. hello, thank you for the news of the first 20, we will need the manual to collect the info from the beacon by sigfox …internet address or others….
    waiting, good luck!

  2. Well done Nico
If you need a well-supplied free flight test site, we have an 8m pole free at takeoff from Laffrey while waiting for the official Beacon to return… I'll provide the ladder 🙂
    Hugs

  3. All the data that will be provided by the PP should be indicated on the Pioupiou site...
Wind direction and speed, temperature, atmospheric pressure, etc.

    1. It is indicated: Pioupiou measures the speed and direction of the wind, the strength of the gusts and the atmospheric pressure.

There is no temperature. Indeed the case heats up because of the sun and the charge of the batteries. So the measurement is completely wrong. And I'm constrained by the size of sigfox messages. So I prefer to zap this information to be able to give more details on the wind.

    2. Ok I thought the tº… sure that the prioritized data is the most important and understand the physical constraints well 😉
