The calm after the storm

The calm after the storm

Technical difficulties, moral burn-out, finances in the red… Since the end of October it was a real storm. The situation was not happy, and we very nearly lost the ship.

Calm has returned. There's still a lot of catching up to do, but the hardest part is probably behind us.

The real good news is that the future of the project now seems secure. Pioupiou will join The Factors, a " start-up factory » Belgian. I will therefore be the new fiscal neighbor of Bebert et Gege : )

But more important than that: this partnership with The Faktory will take Pioupiou to a whole new dimension. Finished playing I set up my business Koh-Lanta way ". We will provide the project with what it needs: mentoring, appropriate funding, external expertise and additional hands. I will remain at the helm, but my role will be focused on what I know how to do: technique and innovation. I will have colleagues who will take care of administrative management, business development, customer support, after-sales service, production, etc.

The deal is not yet complete, but we have already signed a first agreement " the principle “, setting the main lines of the partnership. Now, it remains to finalize the operation: discussions with lawyers, creation of the Belgian structure, contribution of new capital… We are probably talking about a few months.

However, it's a big question mark that disappears. Barring last-minute bad surprises, the future of the project seems assured.

Now there are two other hot topics: repairs and orders in progress.

About Repairs

We have made good progress, with a few hundred Pioupious which have just been finalized.

This means that there will probably be an expedition campaign in the coming days.

Before that, I still need to organize the logistics a little bit. For example, to be sure to send them to the right addresses…

About current orders

There, it's more complicated: with all the problems encountered over the past few months, I've fallen far behind in manufacturing.

I think that in the best case, we are talking about the end of April. It will not be possible to do better. I will offer a refund to those who can't wait.

In the future, I think I will no longer take pre-paid orders. Instead, we will only sell from stock. Pre-orders are dangerous, there are too many hazards that we cannot control.

  1. Indeed the Faktory is very happy and enthusiastic to soon be able to collaborate with Nicolas and his PiouPioux.
We are enthusiastic about this project because it is part of the development of new smart tools that contribute to our safety and comfort, while making data available to everyone, thus advancing projects that we also hope will be of high value.

We are very grateful to you, through this blog, for continuing to support the project and contributing to its best developments.

    1. Congratulations to all: Launching and sustaining a business is a very difficult challenge. It takes conviction, but also economic realism, both on the part of creators and investors. This project is a beautiful project humanly speaking and technically, congratulations again and thank you to all those involved for trying to bring it to life.

  2. great news, we are looking forward to the feedback, thanks to Nicolas for his involvement and his courage in order to continue to bring the Pioupiou project to life!

  3. good game!
The piou piou database will be great to use! micrometeo, analysis of localized air flows, data on current gusts of wind…
long life and make lots of little ones,

  4. Here is some good news. Congratulations Nicolas, the wind is blowing in the right direction...
And worse I'm happy to see my pioupiou in the boxes in photos (384) he will soon find his mast ....
    Well done again..

  5. pioupiou is not in the same category as owl, louse, cabbage, pebble or knee: in the plural an "S" is enough for him. In addition, with or without capital letters, it is above all a proper name: a brand, a dream come true... We have gotten used to it, INPI or not: in one word please
Congratulations and all our encouragement for the team adventure!

  6. Fantasic news!

Our club here in Zermatt (Switzerland) would love to order a bunch of Pioupious once they're available here. Would have been a huge shame to have folded after having come so far!!!

    Cheers,
    -Chris

  7. Excellent news, both for our Pioupious, to know that an innovator is saved and finds himself accompanied and supported by another innovator! The only bad news is that in Belgium, for paragliding, it's plain flying :O)

  8. I think it's less dangerous pre-orders (fair business manager opinion)….it makes cash…. because sale from stock. how do you rate?

  9. Nicolas, I admire your courage and your pugnacity.
Today, they are not many not to give up for much less than that. Your attitude towards those who trust you is a model of professionalism and generosity. Yes Yes.
Nothing to say, except Bravo Nicolas…

  10. Watch out for the sirens...
I find it a shame to transfer this technology to Belgium, there is everything you need to develop this project in France and especially in Rhone Alpes. And it is “France and the French” who mainly supported this project initially.
As usual, France is innovating, the others will realize financially...
Pay attention to the business/income model that will be put in place for the viability of the project.
    Good luck.

    1. I have no doubt that we are capable of carrying out a project like that in Rhône-Alpes.

In the meantime, I found an interesting opportunity for the project. By chance she was in Belgium, that's an incidental fact.

  11. A new Pioupiou (again) online, Pioupiou 388.
Parcel recovered Saturday evening (much too late to take care of it anymore), reactivated Sunday evening (work during the day and return at night, not great for climbing on the roof), and refixed in height this Monday evening. And he peeps again.
Thank you Nicolas for the after-sales service and for keeping your spirits up.
    A+
