Would it be possible to buy one of the used Pioupious v1 (returned by a customer who wants to exchange it for a v2)? Our club unfortunately doesn't have the money for a v2 right now.

I understand why the changes and new prices. Unfortunately, there are too many other compulsory and expensive investments to make (exchange of all the radios because of the 8.33kHz frame, exchange of beacons on the airfield because of the modified regulations etc pp), the club has not just not the money. I would have financed the Pioupiou from my own pocket, but I don't want a monthly post and to buy, v2 is too expensive.
Maybe one day there will be a Pioupiou Lite that connects via wifi 🙂

indeed, a little disappointed with the abandonment of Sigfox: my Pioupiou is in an almost white zone in GSM but which picks up SigFox well enough

Too bad Pioupiou wants to fly to the heights!! but I do not see the interest, as far as I am concerned, of driving at the speed of two horses with a Ferrari. The direction and speed of the wind was more than enough for us. Finally! Pioupiou showed us a way, stick with the soldering iron and the imagination. As interesting and disruptive as the Sigfox technology is, it did not meet the specifications for this product. Among the sticking points:
– lack of coverage in countries where we have a strong demand (eg Switzerland)
– no possibility to do a remote software update
– speed too low to pass data from other sensors (webcam, etc.)
Not all products have the same connectivity needs. At this precise moment, from an industrial perspective and with the experience of the 600 Pioupious Sigfox, I can wisely say that Sigfox is not the right solution for this Pioupiou.
The important and wise sentence is "I can wisely say that Sigfox is not the right solution for this Pioupiou there". So I guess the old ones are obsolete despite the targeted services they render.
We continue to support the old Pioupious, even if we stop marketing them.
However, we recommend upgrading to the new version, which is better designed and easier to maintain.

The included SIM card works worldwide. It is also multi-operator. Ex: switches to SFR if Orange is not present.
I'm interested the 2 pioupiou V1 were planned on the east of Cap Corse but no SIGFOX coverage

Obviously, the new design does not seem to correct an initial defect of the pioupiou: that of not being balanced on its axis! As a result, the mast must be positioned vertically. But going up with a level or a plumb line on a 2 or 3m mast is far from easy...
The black cone at the front, made of solid metal, acts as a counterweight. The new device is therefore perfectly balanced.
On the previous Pioupiou, the center of gravity was actually shifted a few millimeters from the axis of rotation. But that wasn't a problem: the wind vane remained sensitive and steered even in light winds. (theoretical ideal vs industrial constraint)

for the piou 420 the FFVL beacon (Young anemometer) will be put back into service it must be about twenty meters from the pioupiou we will be able to really compare the values with a professional team.
The technical data lacks the minimum recording threshold in a nutshell from which speed the anemo records
in terms of calibration, we can already compare the values of conventional weather stations (infoclimat.fr network for example) with those of our co-located pioupious or almost. A first glance at Perpignan airport shows rather very consistent values. A more systematic analysis of the twin measurements should give a good indicator of the variability of the calibration. a perfect study work for an intern or a retiree :).
It is true that I had a little doubt, because "my" pioupiou 507 on the west coast of Cap Corse always gives speeds very much lower than those of the Ersa weather station at the tip of the Cap; but it is true that this one is much more exposed to the wind.
I am convinced that tests have demonstrated the perfect calibration of the prototypes, I do not know if the tests are carried out for each pioupiou delivered.

I admit to being disappointed with the abandonment of a version of pioupiou based on the sigfox network. For simple use (wind) it was more than enough and I have no desire to pay a monthly subscription for GSM which is a technology, in my opinion, not really suitable for the initial specifications of the pioupiou (which gave the V1).
After with a different specification (the one that gave birth to the V2), I understand the choices. Unfortunately I can't find it anymore. I hope mine (V1) won't break down for many years because I won't be switching to a V2 that does dad mom coffee and cleans when all I need is wind 🙂

I acquired the pioupiou 535 it works well and it appears on the map however since 2611 2016 it no longer appears on mobi beacon I contacted the support of this site mr Pedro and here is the answer I received

I can confirm that you have to go and see the Pioupiou side.

The last location dates back to 26/11. And the "success" flag is false.
These are fairly common symptoms it seems lately.
In MobiBalises, I consider that an erroneous localization is "eliminatory": I prefer not to display anything rather than displaying false information.
I invite you to contact Pioupiou support. As soon as the correction is made on the Pioupiou side, the update will be done automatically in MobiBalises(+) within 24 hours.
