Now the sequel

Now the sequel

Pioupiou is dead.

Altostratus has filed for bankruptcy.

But the network and installed devices are still alive and well.

I bought back from the liquidator what was needed to be able to ensure the survival of the devices.

So I took over the management of the network via my project OpenWindMap (which we will talk about in a few months).

Connectivity is funded for this year, thanks at the Leetchi kitty which was completed in 48 hours. It's also quite comforting to see that there is still a solid community behind this project. THANKS !

I am now trying to see how to ensure all this over time: servers, Sigfox connectivity, spare parts. Also, I wonder about a solution for those whose Pioupiou disappeared during the after-sales service, and for those who had paid for a V2 reservation. So phase of intense reflection. No guarantees at this time. No precipitation. No delay. Just know that it's spinning up there...

If you already need spare parts, I invite you to complete the following survey: https://framaforms.org/interet-pieces-detachees-1571751685

It also seems to me that some Pioupious have not reconnected. If so, let me know their numbers in the comments to this article.

In the meantime, if you need a new station, I highly recommend Holfuy. A very human guy, who does a wonderful job.

Mr Holfuy and Mr ex-Pioupiou, aperitif last September.

  1. Hello !
The pioupiou from bligny sur Ouche (n°200) has not reconnected!
Thank you for what you do for paragliders!
    Nathan

  2. Hello !
The pioupiou from Charmoilles dept 52 (n°551) has not reconnected!
    Thank you
    The club of plateau buzzards

  3. Hello Nicolas,
    Pioupiou n°214 not reconnected.
The battery had been dead for a long time but I replaced it and also replaced the antenna coax which had suffered.
    Goods.

  4. Hello Nicolas,

    The 154 no longer responds.
The wording of the pioupious can no longer be modified, via the passwords that were provided to us upon purchase (error message 404)!
    How do we do it?

    thank you for your answers

  5. Hello Nicolas, thank you for taking up the torch, I too participated in the kitty because I find piou piou really great. I take this opportunity to tell you that the piou piou of the brie slope https://www.openwindmap.org/PP301 is not located correctly if you have the possibility to update the openmap map that would be great here are the coordinates: 45°06'59.6"N 5°47'33.7"E because the gps is screwing up

  6. Hello, we have the pioupiou 46 (v2) which still does not work despite the battery exchange (batteries OK, and leds OK), it seems that its sigfox subscription had not been revalidated (according to the old after-sales service) . for the time being it is stored warm since it was no longer used. I remain at your disposal to reactivate it as soon as possible! Thank you Jean-Christophe PETIT (89310 Noyers sur Serein)

  7. Hello,
The PiouPiou 332 (Beaujolais) does not reconnect either, despite a battery change (LED flashes not described in the manual).
thank you in advance for your help

  8. Hello Nicolas,

The Pioupiou 606 reconnects sporadically: https://www.openwindmap.org/PP606
The Pioupiou 49 has not been connected for a long time, even after a battery change.
I have seen the framasoft form, but if there are parts to change, we are unable to make a diagnosis. More than parts, it is a maintenance service that we would need.
We spent part of our fleet of beacons at Gergely's while waiting for the rebirth of the pioupious (perhaps this will be the occasion to rename them "phoenix").

    Good luck, and thank you!

  9. The 159 seems to transmit after changing the battery, but it does not appear.

Can you please make it appear (network? , base? , others? ) please?

Thank you so much for everything

    jr

  10. Hello, I put a new battery in my PiouPiou 41 the day before yesterday, but I don't see it online. Thank you very much for your investment again.

  11. Hello, our PIOUPIOU 422 no longer gives the wind speed.
We dismantled it, cleaned it etc but nothing helped...
    We are disappointed!!

    1. you will have to replace the entire electronic card, the pulse input on the microprocessor must have been "fried" by an overvoltage (eg lightning => strong induction => here the input is grilled)

  12. Thanks for your feedback. I will look if I see anything for these devices.

I am creating a structure to organize the future:
    – redo the editing of names / descriptions
    – make a self-diagnosis tool
    – provide spare parts.

  13. Hello Nicolas,

Our Pioupiou N° 235 took a bullet in the empennage. Right on the passage of the antenna, to believe that the shooter knew what he was doing 🙁
Is there something to tweak to make it an antenna while waiting for a hypothetical spare part?

    Sincerely,

    1. You can solder a piece of wire of 8 cm (about 1/4 wave) directly on what corresponds to the antenna output of the electronic circuit and you let the wire come out to the outside below. It is a "surgical, delicate" technical operation but which works very well.

    1. Yes, you can disconnect the antenna, but go slowly, you mustn't break anything,
then you can solder the wire, and neutralize the traction of the wire with hot glue to prevent it tearing the circuit.
You can also solder it on the output of the integrated circuit directly, it must be the 2nd terminal at the bottom, on the right, look carefully at the circuit, to always be done "surgically".

    2. Hello Joël,
The antenna cable is 8 cm up to the empennage.
I thought the empennage served as an antenna?
Is it possible to send you pictures?
      For a better diagnosis.
      Sincerely,

    3. the cable that went to the antenna tail is coaxial, (that is to say a core + a shield connected to ground)
what is proposed in the wire solution is a single wire, which must be connected or welded to the core (and not to the mass) hence the "surgical" technical difficulty.

  14. Hello,
Our Pioupiou V1 N°84 located in Banon has disappeared from the map since this spring already. I put it in the list of worries… Thank you

  15. Hello Nicolas,
I am contacting you regarding a new educational project based on the Pioupiou.
Until now, you had Gilles Lanoé as contact at the LGM (Lycée du Grésivaudan-Meylan), but the latter being soon retired, he passed the torch to me!
Can you contact me directly (marc.filliard@gmail.com) so that I can tell you more about this new project?
    Sincerely,
    Marc Filliard
