Lost in production

Lost in production

This week I made adjustments to the electronics.

I had planned everything well. I had to stay Monday in Toulouse to go to Sigfox. Meanwhile, the postman was supposed to be working so that everything would be ready when I got back on Tuesday. My own plane landed very gently, and I even met some colleagues coworkeurs in the terminal. It's after that it's complicated.

I had ordered electronic cards from two different manufacturers. And luck would have it that the two screwed up at the same time. The first ones forgot to paint the cards, while the competitors sent me a nice email telling me that my circuits were " lost in production and that they were redoing them.

Finally, I was able to arrange to have my cards. And since I no longer have time to play, I invested in professional tools made in Intermarché:

Cold bake the cards. Then hot air, one minute at 150°C thermostat for evaporation followed by a peak at 230°C for welding.

Perfect result.

It's well worth the reflow oven in the lab where I did my first cards :

Then, programming the cards:

Since my J-LINK was "for educational use only", I now use the debug interface of the EFM32 development kit. It's the same, and it costs 30€ instead of very expensive.

To load the software inside Pioupiou, I put hidden connections under the board:

We connect with a small 3D printed tool. We put the card in it, and presto!

It will be practical when you have to test the 400 cards one by one...

After all that, I could finally see that I was almost not too wrong. Already, everything fits together well:

There are lots of wires, because I had to tinker a bit.

I kinda banged my head against the desk. " Uh, why does the whole circuit restart when I turn on the GPS? ". There will be a few small changes to make, but nothing major. These are silly mistakes but waste a lot of time. The next one will be good.

I had better luck with the small map from the front. It works wonderfully:

Brief. Next week I'm ordering new cards. As soon as the operation is validated, the boxes can be manufactured.

HELP !!!

The lady is nian-nian because I spend more time with Pioupiou than with her. So I would like to find a job for her so that she bothers me less. (She's the Avril Lavigne lookalike, and she sings just as well − it's hard on the ears)

She is very nice, but a little sad. It's because we only have TOP BUDGET flour. While after her master's degree in mathematics and 7 years as an oil engineer, they had promised her that by doing an MBA she could have organic flour! In addition, after having managed multi-million dollar projects on offshore platforms, she is a bit bored with household logistics.

Brief. If someone around you is looking for a great project manager, or a product manager in a corner where it flies, I know a perfect candidate. She is very serious and not really stupid, the proof: she had 19,5/20 on the theory of the confirmed pilot license! In addition, if she manages to support me every day, I think she will be able to persist even in the most complex tasks.

PS: It is 100% autonomous. I can't even leave for 2 days at Météo-France without it making a piece of furniture!

Here is a photo of the cabinet:

  1. hi nicolas, sorry if the comment is duplicated, I'm not sure that the previous one has passed.
So, a question: I see that you program your module rather by the jtag/swd than the serial port. A reason for that?

For Mrs.'s CV, I'm interested, if she's not afraid of Auvergne… here in any case, it's flying.
